YOU WILL LEARN
- Microscope review & ICSI station setup
- Sperm preparation for ICSI
- Micropipette handling & positioning
- Injection technique fundamentals
- Troubleshooting for lab variation
INSTRUCTOR WILL DEMONSTRATE
- Different ICSI techniques, including the most common aspiration method as well as the yawn/stir method
- How to use the Research Instrument Integra system and the Narishige system
- The application of sperm stimulants such as pentoxifylline in the event of asthenozoospermia (poor motility)
- How to make your own air syringes in case of tool malfunction
COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT
- Students will perform between 50 to 100 injections using donated human-derived gametes (fresh and thawed)
