The CFG/APP Procedure Program is an extensive, simulator-based 6-month training experience designed to enhance procedural skills in reproductive medicine. Utilizing advanced VirtaMed simulators for egg retrieval, embryo transfer, hysteroscopy, and pelvic ultrasound, this program takes place in a state-of-the-art training facility in San Antonio, TX. The Procedural section provides skills training in advanced IVF techniques such as egg retrievals embryo transfers, US – especially pelvic, hysteroscopy and a OR team dynamics.
Details:
This hybrid program combines mentorship from a candidate's workplace with immersive (6 months), and two-week hands-on training at our facility, all under the expert guidance of a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist with over 30 years of experience. Trainers also cover IUI procedures (via Femasys) and provide instruction on operating room and procedure room dynamics, including the roles of surgical assistants and lab personnel during embryo transfers. Virtual simulators serve as excellent learning tools for medical assistants and RNs, offering valuable experience in assisting with egg retrievals and embryo transfers. The procedure modules incorporate built-in data sets that allow candidates to compare their performance to that of REI fellows. The program also highlights key parameters associated with improved reproductive outcomes, such as egg quantity and pregnancy rates following embryo transfer. Candidates will be assigned an on-site mentor from their parent institution and are required to successfully complete two one-week training sessions at the IVF Academy facility in San Antonio.
Assessment:
Mentors will provide real-world evaluation of skills learned by candidates. A comprehensive survey with metrics will be used throughout the 6-month training program. VirtaMed simulators contact AI software and data metrics for performance parameters for proficiency based on REI Fellowship candidate training. The student must demonstrate superior metrics to pass their proficiency testing. Femasys simulator assessments will be based on the huge database of data they have collected on REI and Gyn usage.

Dr. Paul C. Magarelli, M.D., Ph.D., is a distinguished expert in reproductive medicine with over 40 years of experience.
As founder of Technical Conceptions, LLC, and a dual board-certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, he integrates traditional and advanced techniques to provide comprehensive fertility care. He has held key leadership roles at major IVF centers.
Academically, Dr. Magarelli holds a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry and Animal Physiology and an M.D. from the University of Arizona, with further training at Duke University and UCLA. His global contributions include the co-development of the Cridennda Magarelli Acupuncture Protocol (C-MAP), and he continues to advocate for affordable, accessible fertility care.
He has recently joined the academic team at IVF Academy USA as the Dean of the Clinical School.
